Milliman 2014 Public Pension Funding Study

Funded ratios using the market value of assets rose modestly, but remain near 70% despite several strong years of post-2009 investment returns. Average investment return assumptions reported by sponsors remained fairly level and are moderately higher than current long-term market return expectations. The sensitivity of actuarially determined contribution rates to investment volatility continues to increase.

GFOA Supports Proposals to Make OPEB Reporting Like Pension Reporting

Government Finance Officers Association officials said recently that it makes sense that draft standards on other post-employment benefit financial reporting are similar to ones in effect for pension reporting. The GFOA is convinced "that OPEB are essentially similar to pensions and ought to be treated accordingly in the interest of consistency," GFOA said in its comments.

Rating Agencies: GASB’s OPEB Proposals Would Be Beneficial
