According to a report from Moody's Investors Service "health care cost inflation has consistently outpaced core inflation for many years, resulting in larger drains on governmental revenues."

Hedge Funds No More for PERS

In September, PERS announced plans to gradually sell off $4 billion in hedge fund investments over the next 12 months. As part of a continuing process of simplifying its portfolio and focusing on reducing investment costs, PERS has decided to divest investments in hedge funds.

CA Legislative Update – Wrapping up the 2014 Session

September 30th was the last day for the Governor to sign or veto bills passed by the Legislature. He had 1,074 to review, signed 930 and vetoed 143. The good news is that it has been a fairly slow year bill-wise, although, we continue to see a number of clean-up provisions for issues that were left outstanding in the PEPRA.
