Massachusetts State, Municipalities Face Growing Health Care Costs For Retirees

While the state’s pension woes have generated consistent newspaper headlines, as well as efforts reform on Beacon Hill. But the problem of funding other retiree benefits — including health care costs — have garnered neither in recent years. A special commission recommended more than a dozen ways to help fix retiree health care costs in 2013, but the Legislature hasn’t adopted them.
